The Pieces I Swear By for Business Casual Style

If you’ve followed me for a while now, then you already know how much I love smart workwear pieces that can go from the workweek to the weekend. I consider myself incredibly lucky to be able to work for myself, which means working from anywhere in the world. However, I still love mixing elements of business professional attire with more casual pieces. It’s one of my tricks to looking polished and presentable no matter where I’m going. I always turn to Express for all my business casual style needs. They always have the best on-trend work clothes that toe the line between work and play. If you’re one of the many going back into the office soon, I wanted to share some of the affordable pieces you can stock up on this summer to elevate your work and weekend wardrobe.
Blazer
Blazers are a no-brainer choice and probably the first thing most women look for when it comes to workwear. Express carries options suitable for everyone whether you prefer a fitted cut or oversized silhouette. Just remember to stick with neutral colors, like black, grey, white, or beige, to maximize your budget. This double breasted option is my favorite pick because it reminds me of my favorite designer ones.
Fitted Top
Minimal, basic tops are always a smart buy if you want something that can be styled in multiple settings. I’ve spoken so much about Express’ Body Contour before – but I seriously can’t say enough good things about it. The fact that the aesthetic is so simple makes it office-appropriate as well. You can also style it with trousers and a blazer for a serious meeting, then peel off the blazer after work.
Midi Skirt
Skirts are a wonderful way to change up your business casual style in the summer when it’s sweltering hot out! Fortunately, fitted cuts with a midi-length hemline are trendier than ever. I love that Express has skirts that feel a little more casual but are still HR-approved. You can catch me wearing midi skirts with a ribbed tank top or body-hugging bodysuit this summer.
Clean Denim
Denim trends are all over the spectrum right now, but if you’re looking for something office-appropriate, your best bet is to stick to clean, fitted styles in a darker wash. Skinny jeans are great because they always look killer with a blazer. I also love high-waisted cropped jeans to show off a pair of trendy heels.
Oversized Bag & Heels
Lastly, accessories are always a great investment. I love being able to switch up a jeans and blazer combination with some trendy heels, then completing it with an oversized bag that houses my daily essentials and more. Best of all, the bag and heels can become your go-to weekend pieces when you’re wearing a dress or distressed denim.
