My Honest Review of The Gucci Marmont Mini Bag

Today, I’m back with another designer handbag review. I recently asked you guys which designer piece you would like me to review next – and there was such a high request for the Gucci Marmont Mini Bag. Although I also own the Marmont Wallet On A Chain in velvet, this review will focus strictly on the mini.
The Gucci Marmont collection features various handbag styles, sizes, and designs, but I ultimately went with the mini shoulder bag for its size. I particularly loved how it small it appeared but is actually quite spacious inside. It’s big enough to hold all my essentials plus some extras. The simple rectangular design and single zip access also makes it super easy to get in and out of. Another feature to note is its versatility. It’s great for travel when you want to be hands-free – and you can carry it during the day or night. It remains one of my most-used handbags and I would definitely recommend buying it.
Here’s my full review of the Gucci Marmont Mini Bag and my answers to the most frequently asked questions…
How Practical Is The Bag?
As I alluded to earlier, this bag is extremely functional despite its smaller appearance. It can hold a wallet or cardholder, keys, iPhone Pro, and smaller items – like a compact mirror or lipgloss. Although it’s technically a small crossbody bag, I’ll sometimes carry it as a clutch. I find that this bag gets the most usage throughout the warmer months when I tend to be outdoors more and don’t want the hassle of carrying a larger bag. Plus, I like how the muted hardware and quilted chevron design makes this bag feel slightly more elevated so it works well as an evening bag.
How Well Does The Bag Hold Up?
I have owned my Gucci Marmont bag for several years now and have definitely gotten a lot of use out of it. I feel that my bag has held up well even though it’s made from delicate calfskin. Not only that but for being a white handbag, I’m impressed with how resilient it’s been to stains.
Some people have complained about color transferring from their clothes to this bag, but I have never had that happen to me. Keep in mind that durability is partially dependent on the care of the owner. If you purchase this bag, I recommend storing it in the dust bag or box when you’re not carrying it – and also treating it with a leather protectant spray. This will help ensure that your bag lasts for years down the road.
Who Is This Bag Not Right For?
If you’re the type of person who prefers to carry a lot in their bag, such as an iPad, camera, or notebooks, the Gucci Marmont Mini Bag may not be the best option. It has a lot of capacity but has its limitations when it comes to larger items. Also, if you’re easily stressed about the possibility of color or dye transferring from your clothes to this bag, it’s probably best to go with a darker color like black rather than white.
Is It Still A Good Investment In 2020?
The Gucci Marmont Mini Bag is no doubt pricey for its size, so you probably want to ensure that your purchase will not only remain relevant – but will hold its value years down the road. I honestly believe that this handbag has earned its reputation as a timeless classic, which means designer bag enthusiasts will never get tired of the style, size, or design. With that in mind, it’s absolutely still a great investment in 2020 and will carry you far into the future. If you are looking for something easy to style and transition from day to night, this handbag is one of the best purchases you can make.
Where Should I Buy It?
The Gucci Marmont handbags are readily available at most luxury retailers, including Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, Saks Fifth Avenue, Net-A-Porter, and MyTheresa. You can also purchase it directly from the Gucci site. I’ve always had a great experience purchasing from any of them. Although the handbag is readily available in its standard colors across all these retailers, Gucci recently released a ton of cute pastel options, which seem to be in stock only at Nordstrom and their direct website (here).
