As we wind down to the beginning of summer, I’ve been spending some time overhauling my wardrobe. I’ve mainly lived in loungewear these past three months, so I haven’t felt this excited about clothes in a while. Although there are many basics I’ll continue to keep on rotation, like denim and bodysuits, there are definitely some summer trends I can’t wait to wear. I wanted to round up all those trends into one post in case you need a little inspiration for your next shopping trip.
Cami NYC Lace Bodysuit (wearing an XXS, budget version here) | Levi’s Denim (wearing a 24, under $100) | Saint Laurent Sunset Wallet On Chain | Similar Pearl Hoops | Christian Louboutin White Heels (better for budget here)
Corset Details
I basically live for romantic, feminine details in the summer – typically in the form of statement tops. I’ve been seeing corset and bustier details everywhere and can’t seem to get enough of the trend. A beautiful corset-inspired blouse is so easy to throw on with a pair of jeans while a dress with a corset bodice makes for sexy date night look.
Mango Sheer Top (wearing an XS) | GRLFRND Denim (wearing a 24) | Topshop Mesh Slingback Pumps | Chanel Bag
Sheer Layers
From mesh bodysuits to see-through sleeves, sheer layers are another trend I’m looking forward to. I purchased this statement top from Mango back in March, and will be adding more pieces like it to my wardrobe. Sheer layers are incredibly light and won’t make you feel overheated so they’re perfect for the summertime.
Janessa Leone Hat (better for budget here) | Abercrombie Linen Top (wearing an XS) | Levi’s Denim (wearing a 24) | Bottega Veneta Bag (in Mist color) | Alexandre Birman White Heels | Baublebar Initial Necklace | Similar Chair
Voluminous Sleeves
Strong shoulders and puff sleeves are another trend that’s still going on strong. At this point, it seems like you can’t have too many puff-sleeved pieces in your wardrobe. This statement detail adorns dresses, lace blouses, and basic tees, making for an effortlessly chic outfit.
Mango Camel Coat (wearing an XS/S) | Similar White Bodysuit | Similar White Linen Pants (better for budget here) | Bottega Veneta The Pouch Bag (better for budget here) | Schutz x Revolve Heels | Celine Sunglasses (better for budget here)
Linen
I’ve always favored linen during the warmer months because it feels pleasantly airy even on the hottest days. However, linen clothing seems to be especially trendy this summer. I’m a huge fan of linen trousers, dresses, and matching sets as they tend to keep me cooler than other options. I also find that anything made from linen is super easy to dress up or down.
Amazon Tank Bodysuit (wearing an XS) | Levi’s Denim (wearing a 24) | Steve Madden Croc Heels (run TTS) | Saint Laurent Tote | Chanel Earrings
Square-Toe Heels
I’ve spent the majority of my time in slide sandals, lace-up flats, and sneakers these past few months, so I’m really excited about bringing out all the square-toe heels I’ve acquired. The wider opening at the toe makes them more comfortable than pumps or other heel styles I own – and I love that they offer a higher level of wearability without sacrificing style.
Lovers + Friends White Sweater (wearing an XXS – size down) | Similar Faux Leather Skirt | Gucci Marmont Bag (mini size) | Celine Sunglasses (budget version here) | Similar Christian Louboutin White Heels (better for budget here)
Faux Leather
Most people refrain from wearing leather in the summer since it’s not exactly heat-friendly. However, I’ve always loved the idea of playing with textures regardless of the season. Faux leather shorts and skirts are a great way to incorporate this trend into your wardrobe right now. Opt for lighter brown and neutral tones for a summer appropriate vibe.
