5 Summer Tops That Make a Statement

comments
Statement tops are one of the pieces I live in during summer because they’re such an easy way to dress up denim and other casual bottoms. When I’m stuck in a style rut and layering seems too over the top for the heat, a statement top never fails to pull an outfit together. I’ll be honest that I rarely splurge on seasonal statement tops since they go out of style so quickly. But that’s part of the beauty in them – most of them are super affordable. Whether it’s a statement sleeve or a unique neckline, I wanted to share the 5 summer tops you need to make a statement.
Revolve Pink Top (runs large, size down) | Levi’s Denim (wearing a 24) | Celine Sunglasses (better for budget here) | Dior Lucky Locket Necklace (similar here, better for budget here) | Ego Heels (use EU sizing – wearing an EU 36)
Puff Sleeves
Statement tops with puff sleeves are all the rage this summer, and I’m here for it. I love how it adds instant drama to denim, but also works with a variety of outfit combinations. I recently purchased this floral top from Revolve during my trip to Florida and fell in love with the feminine print and voluminous sleeves. It’s such a perfect vacation piece.
Saks Off Fifth Ruffle Top (recommend adding yourself to the wait list, also similar here and here) | Dior Lucky Locket Necklace (similar here and here) | Chanel Bag | GRLFRND Denim (wearing a 23 – runs TTS) | Christian Louboutin White Heels (similar here, better for budget here) | Givenchy Sunglasses
One Shoulder
Everything 90’s has been making a comeback and one-shoulder tops are the latest revival that’s so trendy right now. I have to admit I’m loving the more basic silhouettes that look super chic underneath a blazer. But I’m also into the bolder one-shoulder ruffle options that stand out on their own.
Susana Monaco Tie Strap Top (wearing an XS) | By The Way Faux Leather Shorts (wearing an XS) | Saint Laurent Sunset Bag (also here) | Saint Laurent Sunglasses (budget version here)
Racer Tank
I’ve always associated the racer tank with being a sportswear or fitness piece, but it’s officially become part of my everyday wardrobe. It works perfectly as a base to any summer outfit. I love how the curved neckline makes a nice update to your usual tank or t-shirt.
Tiger Mist Bodysuit (size up, under $100) | Topshop Mom Jeans (size up, under $100) | Gucci Velvet Wallet On Chain
Straight Neckline
The straight neckline has been all over Instagram this year. I love how it works perfectly with everything from pencil skirts to mom jeans. Whether it’s a bodysuit or a puff sleeve blouse, these tops are flattering on everyone – and may even be the only wardrobe update you need this summer.
Revolve White Lace Bodysuit (wearing an XS – size up) | Gucci White Belt (wearing a size 75 – read my ‘Gucci Belt Sizing Guide’ HERE) | Levi’s Denim (wearing a 23 – runs TTS) | Gucci Marmont Mini Bag | Christian Louboutin White Heels (similar here, better for budget here)
Sheer Sleeves
Sheer blouses and sleeves are another detail to watch out for this season. It brings a delicate femininity to any look and can easily styled for a variety of occasions. Just tuck it into trousers for a day at the office or pair it with denim cut offs on the weekends.
