The Summer Staples Every Wardrobe Needs

With summer just around the corner, it’s a great time to start building a foundation for your warm-weather wardrobe. There are always a few staples that I stock up on and then I add in fun statement pieces throughout the season. I tend to live in basics (usually neutrals) that can easily be mixed and matched to create different looks. You don’t have to spend a lot on basics, but I always opt for quality fabrics and flattering silhouettes. I like to stick with brands known for quality that aren’t overly expensive. I always find great pieces at Macy’s especially when it comes to basics. These are the staples I always have in my summer wardrobe.
A Classic Button-Down
I live in classic button-downs in the summer because I love how they pair with my go-to bottom of choice – denim cut-offs. I like to strategically reveal skin in the summer months without going over the top. For me, that means longer sleeves with shorts or a higher neckline if I go sleeveless. This linen Tommy Hilfiger top is one of my favorite recent finds. I’ve been on the hunt for a linen button-down and browsed every online retailer until I landed on this one. Linen is one of my favorite fabrics for the summer because it breathes and feels so effortless.
A Feminine White Dress
I always buy way too many white dresses in the summer, but it seems like there’s always an opportunity to wear one. White looks chic for day or night. White dresses are so romantic – they’re my go-to for summer nights.
Anything With Stripes
Nautical stripes are the epitome of summer dressing. I always make sure to have a few striped pieces in my wardrobe for casual days.
